Kerala’s formidable reserve of spices is what helped it build long-lasting bonds with countries and civilizations for aeons. These shores have witnessed traders from a diverse range of ethnicities, and together with them, many lasting cultural relations and influences were formed. Ms Radhika shows us some of these rare plants that have earned Kerala the nickname of ‘ The Land of the Spices’. These special ingredients have helped add the majestic flavour and aroma that staple trademarks of Kerala cuisine to this day. Participants of the 2018 edition of the Children’s International Online Painting Competition, in honour of artist extraordinaire Edmund Thomas Clint. shall get the unique opportunity to visit these shores and taste some of these marvellous spices.
